Norlund Camper Hatchet
The axe, as a tool was invented roughly 1.5 million years ago. This one is not quite that old, but if you know the name Norlund, you know it is a quality tool. They are hard to find for sale, and harder still in like-new condition. For every 500 Collins axes, you'll find one Norlund. Most old tools were worn down from use on a farm or left to rust. If you don't beleive me, go ahead and search for a Norlund hatchet for sale and let me know when you find this model, in this condition.
This paritcular hatchet is the Norlund "Camper", and it is in excellent+ condition for tool that is over 50 years old.
The head has a 3.75" super-sharp face and a 16" hickory haft that is in great condition. I'll throw in a head cover for safe storage as well.
Since the original label has long since worn off, I have reproduced that label, for those who like to display their tools.
If you're like me, you've see countless videos of outdoorsmen batoning through wood with their knives. While I agree knife batoning has a place in woodsman lore, it doesn't hold a candle to a good hatchet.
If I have a need to split wood for a campfire or limb a tree, nothing beats a good axe or hatchet. 1.5 million years of history can't be wrong.
And since most of us aren't counting every ounce or hiking the entire Appalachian trail any time soon, it's safe to say you would want the best tool for the job.
While this is a hard to find collectable in this condition, Im hoping you'll actually put him to work for what he was born to do... CHOP!
• 3.75 inch edge
